Angry leaf by Camilla Engman

I wish you all a great weekend and a mysterious, dark Halloween for my north-american friends. And of course, lots of candy ;)

Amazing Rings

Rings have always been my favourite kind of jewel. I love buying rings, wearing them and i enjoy so much making them. Most of the pieces i make for myself are rings. There was a time when i was younger when i used to wear them in almost every one of my fingers, on both hands. different shapes and textures. I'm always looking for gorgeous rings on etsy and here i present you some of my favourites:

Grass ring by Propellers

Small arrow floating ring by Brilliance Found

T14 organic love ring by La Chica De Los Anillos

Coral branch ring by Lila Ruby King

Lily seed pod silver ring by Midwest Alchemy

Deer antler ring by Marriage of Metal

I love the shapes and textures of this amazing pieces. I also like the fact that they're big, bold, unique and beautiful. For me big rings are not just for parties or special occasions. I like to use them on my everyday life to show a bit of my personality, even with the simplest of outfits.

Wool & Water

This is the other side of me: There's nothing better than a bit of creepy and edgy to make things cooler.
There's something about Wool and Water, i just can't have enough of it. It may be the mysterious characters, the eerie, whimsy feel of her illustrations or the dark, desolate ambient she manage to transport you when looking at her work, it can be all of that. I just know it got me and i love it.
Amy Earles is the heart behind this magical world of Wool & Water and i just have to share with you some of her amazing illustration and paper dolls, here are some of my favourites:

Sweet, sweet, sweet!

I love sweet stuff! not only the edible kind (although it may be my favourite kind...) but any thing that makes me go "awwwww" in the world, and here are some of the sweetest things i have come across lately on Etsy:

Double chocolate doughnut tote by Avril Loretti, Little cloud cushion by Poppy And Ted, Pet hat - party by Xmoonbloom, Cloth doll by Baby To Go, Chocolate cookie by KG Sweets.

Don't you feel like you need to eat that cookie? because i do! it looks so pretty and yummy.
And didn't you giggle a bit with that cute cat hat? too cute!
I just added to my wishlist the doughnut bag (so cool!), the cloud cushions and the vintage paper doll inspired doll for the little one :)
If you'd like to see more sweet finds follow this link to my Etsy treasury. Have a nice day!

Friday, yay!

I'm half the way to finish the little one's costume and it's looking pretty nice! I think i'm going to show you a sneak peek of it on Monday :) she's going to be dressed as a certain princess from a remote planet...do you have any clue which princess may be? Maybe you'll have a better idea on monday with some photos to see :)

I'm so ready for the weekend! i just hope it doesn't rain too much so we would be able to get out of the house and enjoy the last days of beautiful, colorful leaves on the trees. Not fun to get all wet under the rain on a chilly autumn day!

I wish you a happy weekend and i hope to see you around soon!

Inspired

Papier Mache is one of my absolutely favorite on-line mags out there. No matter how many times i visit the same issue i always find something new and inspiring. So it was weird for me to wait until now to go check issue 4 that was out since last August! but the true is that lately i haven't had the time to check many things i like on the internet.
Well, i just went to check issue 4 and as always, i find myself full of that strange, happy feeling you get when you see something you really like and that inspires you.
They got me from the first page (well, that's pretty much usual with papier mache!) with an absolutely beautiful phrase from Jack Kerouac, to dedicate the issue to the dreamers, misfits, wildflowers and the mad ones:

Via papier mache magazine I immediately thought of my girl when i saw this! my little wildflower.

"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. " -Jack Kerouac.

This is the first time i read something by this writer and i just found a new favourite.
I relate to his philosophy. I mean, is not that i think i'm going to change the world and that i'm doing this extraordinary things (but then again, who knows?!), but i've always been the wildflower, the misfit, the dreamer and the mad one. I got to say i've always been proud of being that girl. "Normal" scares me a bit. And when i know i make someone think how immature, crazy i am, i can't help but smile, because i know they're just too normal to understand.

Isn't great to find something cool to love? a book, a movie, a great recipe, a blog... i found today the lead to this author and for that, here's to Papier Mache magazine, that never fails to inspire me!

Rainy October Day

It's been raining all day long. It's a beautiful day. The colours on the leaves seem more brighter and intense and it's very windy so leaves are flying everywhere. I was going to take a photo of the view from my window but my battery's dead, i'll have to wait until it charges.
i wish husband had stayed home instead of going to work, so we could watch a movie and hug, enjoying the rainy/cold October day. But that's life.

Good thing is friday! We can start celebrating the weekend this afternoon :)
No big plans for this weekend, just get together with friends and relax. What about you? do you have any plans for this weekend? I'd love to know what are you going to do!

Long Weekend: Part 2

Unexpected.
And then there was a Buddhist monastery in the middle of the mountains, very far from any town! It was like being on another country.
Our friends knew about this place an they took us there. It was great! the atmosphere was so peaceful and serene. I really like it there.

Lightning Bolt Stud Earrings

Here's the new addition to the family! I present you the Lightning Bolt stud earrings, available on my shop now.
I honestly think this photos don't really show how cool, neat and pretty they are. I just love them, they're so cute!
I wanted to make lightning bolts since a long time ago but i was making sketches and sketches and i couldn't get to draw a decent (let alone pretty) lightning bolt. But one day last week i just started to doodle and suddenly there it was: a lightning bolt, all pretty and perfect! that's when i decided it was time to make my design into a pair of tiny stud earrings :)
I hope you like them!

Trendspotting

Jewelry with small beads. Lately i like so much this kind of jewelry and i have unconsciously include it on my curations every time the opportunity allows, like here, or here. Also here...to name a few.
So i decided i was going to just make a little post on the matter. I hope you like my picks!

There's a tribe in the north of Mexico called the Huicholes who made jewelry like this: intricate beading, colorful designs with very small beads. So i think that this trend may be related to the wonderful work of this indigenous tribes in the north of Mexico and south USA. You can visit this link to learn more about the Huicholes' jewelry and how you can help keep their traditions alive! I think it's great that many young/trendy jewelers are bringing this jewelry style to the main stream!
