New look!

Hello and welcome to the new Mademoiselle Cranky Pants blog!

...Well, not all new, just the banner part ;) hehehehe oh and some of the things on the side bar, too! Do you like our new look?

I wanted it to represent some of the things I enjoy and talk about on the blog: The dinosaur toys are of course representing Amelia :) not that she has anything in common with a wild, extincted animal (lol), but she loves dinosaurs so much and I wanted to have one of her favorite toys here (and one that fitted my screen!).

The books are, well, representing just me, the things I like and I'm interested on (like illustration, children stories, creating a small business, and literature in general).

The bunting well, I just love buntings and paper stuff.

The things that are holding the bunting are a jewelry making accessory called third arms and I used them when I'm soldering my jewelry, so they represent my jewelry.

The minerals might represent my love for nature and also represent a bit of the jewelry thing, I guess.

The camera is because I love photography.

I think just Alex is missing :( but he's the most important thing of all so he'll be represented by my whole blog, because he's the pillar of it all, like the sunshine that lits everything around me :) so please don't feel excluded baby ;)
And speaking of Alex, he was the one to put the new blog look together as I'm such a dope for html :S Thanks cori!

Oh!! and my friend Alty helped me, too, with the fonts and speech bubbles! she did such a wonderful job :) thanks Champs!!!

And that's the inspiration and concept behind my new banner :) I hope you enjoy a bit more to come here and look around! For sure my eyes are super happy with all the changes, not that I did not like my old look but changes are always good. And this is particularly lovely :)

Thanks for visiting and Have a great week!

I'm back!!

Hey!! So glad to see you here :D

I'm back after a very lovely vacation. I hope all of you are very well and happy :)
I have some photos I want to share with you from our little trip.

Boston was lovely as always! I'll never get tired of Boston, I find it very charming and lovely. Plus we were there and all the trees were blossoming and I was so happy taking photos of the flowers, yay!
Then we went to Newport which is this small, charming town by the sea and it was so cool. Although the time we were there it was cold and CRAZY windy, it kind of added up to the mood and it was magical.

I hope you enjoy my photos!!

So glad to be back, see you around!!

The Handmade Olympics!!

Hi there! I hope you are doing great today :)
I want to tell you I'm super, super excited as yesterday I got to know my Refuge/Home Necklace made it to the shortlist on the Handmade Olympics organized by Rikrak Studio!

The Handmade Olympics is an event on Rikrak Studio blog with several categories where lovely, innovative, eco-friendly, handmade and vintage goodies (and blogs) can participate to win great prizes!

My refuge/Home Necklace was nominated by lovely Clémence Herbillon from Galejade Jewelry for the "Our favorite handmade goodie that inspires loveliness and wellness" category. She was so sweet and kind to put my jewelry out there and then my Refuge Necklace was chosen to be a finalist and then you can vote for me or for your favourite to win!!

This is so cool and i feel so fortunate to have my necklace in the competition, not just because i'm competing but because when i created that necklace, it was with this in mind: a piece of jewelry which reminds you of a place where you feel comforted, secure and happy. In my case, this place is home, so i conceive it as the little house with the troubled cloud in the background, outside your protective space. So out there, are people 'feeling' my jewelry and that makes me happy!

Ok, now here's the link of the event i'm participating (event number 4), can i just say i would LOOOOVE if you can follow the link and vote??!! there are so many other awesome competitions going on so don't forget to vote for your faves in all categories!!!

Thanks so much Rikrak Studio for having me in your blog, thanks so much Clémence for nominate me, thanks so much Ez for select my Refuge for the shortlist and thank you, for your support!!

Souvenirs From Mexico Giveaway!!

You didn't think i came back from my vacation empty handed, right? well, i brought some souvenirs from our trip for one lucky reader!!

The first souvenir is a mini sarape, which is hand made in Saltillo. A sarape is kind of a blanket but may be as well something you'll wear as a shawl. It's very colorful and beautiful! The one i brought is mini, too small to wear but perfect for a place mat or to put it under your flower pots to add some cheerfulness to a room :D

The second souvenir it's a beautifully crafted woven bag/purse made of palm. You can use it as a cosmetic bag or to put in letters or small treasures ;) This bag is made by hand in Tabasco by local artisans/indigenous people, so it's a real treasure :)

How to participate:

-Leave a comment bellow!
-yeah, that's it!

I'll make the raffle on Monday the 17 (that's a week from now!) and announce the winner that same day via blog/twitter and facebook ;)

I hope you are excited about my giveaway :) I am truly happy to give this to one of my lovely readers! Good luck to you all!

Rainy October Day

It's been raining all day long. It's a beautiful day. The colours on the leaves seem more brighter and intense and it's very windy so leaves are flying everywhere. I was going to take a photo of the view from my window but my battery's dead, i'll have to wait until it charges.
i wish husband had stayed home instead of going to work, so we could watch a movie and hug, enjoying the rainy/cold October day. But that's life.

Good thing is friday! We can start celebrating the weekend this afternoon :)
No big plans for this weekend, just get together with friends and relax. What about you? do you have any plans for this weekend? I'd love to know what are you going to do!

The Gift

Have you seen all those wonderful pictures of beautiful packaging and gift wrapping and all that stuff lately? I've been hunting those images and drooling over them. I just found this new wave of packing hand made goods and gifts so adorable (visit my board "Empacando" on Pinterest to see what i'm talking about). This is my first attempt to beautifully pack something and i think it looks pretty good!
Can you guess what's inside? well, this lovely package is on its way to Ireland to Millie, the winner of my giveaway! So my lovely summer bunting is inside :D
I wish you a nice day!

Spring Banner

This season banner.

Do you like it??
It was my plan since the very beginning of this blog to have four different banners, one for each season. Spring arrived like, 23 days ago and i was so busy i just didn't have time to work on this season banner, but yesterday i finished it at least and here it is!
Mademoiselle looks older (If i had keep trying to make her look younger this banner wouldn't have been ready yet) and snow changed into rain. You can also see some flower buds on the tree!
And i loved adding the umbrella!
Well, i would like to know what you think, but most importantly, i want to thank you for keeping up with my journey through life, love and creativity :)
